Budimex Group ended 1H 2022 with good financial results - despite the difficult market situation.
In the opinion of construction subcontractors, Budimex has been recognised as a company that offers the best conditions. This is according to a study published in June, which was conducted in the first quarter of this year by ASM Centrum Badań Analiz i Rynku.
On 8 July 2022, Slovakia's Národná diaľničná spoločnosť, a. s. z, the national roads administrator in Slovakia, selected Budimex S.A.'s tender as the most favourable in the tender procedure for: the construction of the 16.8 km long D1 Bratislava-Triblavina motorway under the design-and-build formula.
On 6 July 2022, a press meeting was held dedicated to the CSR action - “House from the Heart 2”, initiated once again by Budimex. It is a special project in which a house is being built for a family of 8 people in need from Brusy in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The second edition of the programme once again involved friendly companies whose representatives met in Brusy to sum up the progress of the construction of the dream house of Iwona, Krzysztof and their six children.
DCT Gdansk, the operator of the largest container terminal on the Baltic Sea, has signed a contract with the consortium of Budimex S.A. and Dredging International NV for the construction of the third deep-water quay – known as T3. Construction work is expected to start in early September – after the end of the holiday season.
On 5 July 2022, the topping-out ceremony and the completion of the first stage of work on the construction of the Polfa SA Oncology Drug Development and Production Centre in Tarchomin took place. This is a unique project on a national and European scale and, at the same time, the largest investment of Tarchomińskie Zakłady Farmaceutyczne Polfa SA.
Budimex is the contractor for the 105 km wall on the Polish-Belarusian border in accordance with the provisions of the agreement with the Polish Border Guard. The wall forms part of the eastern border of the European Union and NATO. The work had been in progress since January this year and was completed on time.
In consortium with Strabag, Budimex created a 12-kilometre section of the S14 expressway, constituting the southern section of the Łódź ring road. The investor was the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways in Łódź.
An agreement on the possibility of cooperation between Bouygues Travaux Publics and Budimex S.A. in the construction of a nuclear power plant was signed on 22 June 2022.
Budimex has finished works related to the reconstruction of track systems together with accompanying infrastructure on the E-59 line for the Rokietnica–Wronki section. The route measures 35.14 km and is a part of the railway line between Poznań Główny and Szczecin Główny. PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA is the contract investor.
As part of the contract signed on 14 September 2018, the scope of modernisation included track surface, overhead contact line, power, reparation and modernisation of engineering structures as well as reconstruction of platforms, railway crossings and construction of new drainage.

Budimex has completed its work on extending the Silesian Planetarium in Chorzów. For the project worth approximately PLN 80 million, Poland’s largest general contractor upgraded the existing facilities and built a new section of the Planetarium. The Planetarium now enjoys more than 3,200 sq.m. of additional space.
The “Polityka” weekly, Deloitte, a consulting company, and Forum Odpowiedzialnego Biznesu (The Forum for Responsible Business) recognised Polish leaders of sustainable growth and ESG in the 11th edition of Polityka’s “Listki CSR” (CSR Leaves) awards. The gala during which the CSR Leaves and commemorative diplomas were awarded was held at the headquarters of the “Polityka” magazine in Warsaw. Budimex joined the dozens of corporations recognised with the awards. As it happens each year, the Golden, Silver and White CSR Leaves from “Polityka” were awarded to the companies scrutinised by the jury for environmental and social activities and corporate governance, with the final ranking driven by the questionnaires answered by the qualified entrants and developed in compliance with ISO 26000.
Construction work is now entering its final stage on the Goleniów-Ciecierzyce gas pipeline, a section of the Baltic Pipe developed by GAZ-SYSTEM. The nearly 122-kilometre section is the longest onshore leg of the gas transmission main, which will allow the delivery of natural gas from Norwegian fields to Poland.
Poland's largest construction company focuses on innovation and increases its potential in the use of modern technologies. By working with young scientists and startups, Budimex supports the development of the most innovative projects. Last May, the company signed a contract with OSATeam (OSA - Falling Atmospheric Satellite) - students of a high school in Kraków, who designed and constructed a minisatellite that won the first prize at the European Space Agency. Talented 18-year-olds beat more than 1,000 teams from across Europe in the European CanSat 2021/2022 Competition.
On 26 May 2022 PGE Górnictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna S.A. issued a debit note for the amount of PLN 561,516,981.74 to the Mitsubishi Power Europe Gmbh, Tecnicas Reunidas S.A. and Budimex S.A consortium. The share of Budimex S.A. in the consortium does not exceed 24% of the contract value. Budimex S.A. considers the imposition of the aforementioned penalty by the ordering party to be unjustified, and the debit note will not be included in the company's books.
Safety Week is taking place for the ninth time, over 23-29 May. This is the largest initiative in Poland aimed at improving safety in domestic construction sites. The action is organised by Agreement for Safety in Construction. So far, the initiative has covered construction sites in 400 different locations in Poland and has reached more than 100,000 construction employees. This year's edition is accompanied by the slogan “Construction is coming to an end. Safety means NEVER!”
Electromobility in Poland is developing dynamically and more companies decide to join the pioneers of green transport. One of them is Budimex, which is now entering an industry that has been uncharted by it, but in the company of an experienced business partner, Elocity.
Construction of a new railway bridge over the Regalica River in Szczecin is underway. The first structural elements of the new rail crossing of the river can already be seen. Budimex has been working on the project for several months on behalf of Państwowe Gospodarstwo Wodne Wody Polskie Regionalny Zarząd Gospodarki Wodnej (The Polish Waters State Water Management, Regional Water Management Authority in Szczecin) and PKP PLK.
The large project of building the Rzeszów Traffic Hub has been launched. In order to facilitate the required construction work and complete it sooner, it has been coordinated with the city authorities of Rzeszów to change the traffic arrangement near the Central Railway Station of the city for 30 days, starting from Thursday, 5 May 2022.
