The Opening of the Museum of the Cursed Soldiers in Ostrołęka

On March 1, the Museum of Cursed Soldiers was opened in Ostrołęka. The Chairman of the Board of Budimex, Dariusz Blocher, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Piotr Gliński, and the Mayor of Ostrołęka, Łukasz Kulik were present at the event. The date of the opening is not accidental. On March 1 we celebrate the National Remembrance Day of the Cursed Soldiers.

The construction of the museum began in July 2017 and included the modernisation and extension of the old detention facility, which was originally a tsar-era prison built in 1903. The total area of the building is 3,500 square metres. – I would like to extend my thanks to Budimex for the careful construction and, as always, their extraordinary efforts in overcoming all difficulties. I am glad that this important investment was implemented by a Polish company and also one with such a long tradition as Budimex – said Minister Gliński. – Great things always have humble beginnings. Even though this facility is not a massive highway or a large office building, it was still a very unusual construction project for Budimex. This is due to the fact that it is a tangible beginning of the process that will allow us to discover the stories of many forgotten heroes – said Chairman Blocher. Currently, Budimex is constructing two more museum buildings – the Polish History Museum in Warsaw and the Sybir Memorial Museum in Białystok.
