Parent Zone in the hospital in Wrocław

News date: November 26, 2021
Parent Zone in the hospital in Wrocław

The 38th Parent Zone was opened in the Children’s Ward of the Regional Specialist Hospital. In this edition of the project, we transformed two rooms on two different floors of the ward. The renovated areas are now educational rooms, in which teachers from the Health Resort School Complex in Ciechocinek will conduct classes for children.

‘Parent Zone. Budimex for Children’ is a nationwide project managed and fully financed by Budimex SA. The purpose of the project is to create special places in paediatric wards of Polish hospitals for young patients to spend time with their parents and explore the world through play. Access to such colourful and friendly places makes the children feel more comfortable and speeds up their recovery.

In the hospital in Wrocław, Budimex made two common rooms on two different floors of the building. The inspiration for the interior design of the first room was the calming greenness of the nearby forests, enriched with graphics referring to the local fauna and flora. The interior design of the second common room will make the youngest patients feel as if they were on a safari – the room is full of warm colours and images of African animals.

The new common rooms were equipped so as to meet the needs of children of all ages. The rooms can be used by pre-schoolers, school-aged children and high school students. It will be a place for holding school lessons for older children and a playground for the youngest patients.

On my own behalf and on behalf of our staff, young patients and their carers, I would like to thank Budimex for funding the renovation of two common rooms in the Children’s Observation Ward. After the renovation, their interior design has become more functional and now our patients have a safe and friendly space for learning and playing. Parents and their children will be able to comfortably spend the time in between diagnostic and medical treatments, which will reduce stress caused by illness and hospital stay’, says Danuta Pora, M.D., Head of the Children’s Observation Ward.

The Parent Zone in Włocławek is special for us. We always try to leave something good behind for the community of people living near the place where we perform a contract. It is all the more pleasant to go back to the place whose construction we have just finished to support its youngest patients and enable them to recover quicker. We are happy that the rooms we made will be used to conduct classes for school-aged children and activities for the youngest patients. Thanks to lessons with teachers, students staying at hospital will be up to date with what their peers are learning at school’, says Aldona Orłowski, Director of the Recruitment, Development and Communication Office at Budimex.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and in order to take care of the safety of patients, hospital staff and journalists, the 38th Parent Zone was handed over to the hospital remotely. For the same reason, local Budimex volunteers could not be present at the hospital before the finale and could not help with finishing work. They found a different way to make their contribution – they equipped the 38th Parent Zone with audio equipment, which will be used to play relaxing music to children, and with toy cars for the youngest users of the Parent Zone.
