Opening of the Gdynia Film Centre

13 September 2015 — 21 months after the agreement was signed — saw the opening ceremony of the Gdynia Film Centre. The contractor of the investment worth PLN 32.4 million net and executed as part of the “design and build” system is Budimex. The architectural concept was developed in the Arch-Deco studio from Gdynia.
The Gdynia Film Centre is located in the city centre near the Musical Theatre, a few hundred metres from the city beach.
The three-storey building has a simple, modernist form with a glass façade. It houses not only the Gdynia Film School, but also three cinema halls for 45, 96 and 227 viewers, a film club, a restaurant and the offices of the Film Festival. The total floor area of the facility is over 3.7 thousand square metres.
The investment also included construction of an underground car park for 220 vehicles and a funicular from Grunwaldzki Square to Kamienna Góra, which was commissioned in July this year.
