Modernization of Toruń’s eastern railway station begins

Budimex signed a contract with PKP S.A. to implement the Investment: "Reconstruction of Toruń Wschodni (east) railway station." The project is to be implemented within the framework of the investment task: "Upgrading railway line no. 353 on the Toruń Główny (main station) – Toruń Wschodni section along with the station infrastructure and the construction of new railway halts in Toruń – BiT City II".

The project includes construction works involving the remodelling and renovation of the Toruń Wschodni and Administration buildings, dismantling of the bunker facility, change of land development and construction of a temporary station with the necessary infrastructure. The investment also includes improving the standard of movement of people, improving the standard of service and providing access for people with limited mobility, especially people with disabilities.

 

The complex of Dworzec Wschodni (east station) and Administration buildings was built in 1908 in the neo-Gothic style, with the original architectural design still preserved. In addition to their primary function of serving travellers, the buildings have been used in part for commercial and tourist accommodation purposes.

 

The Dworzec Wschodni and Administration buildings are under conservation area policy.

This is another historic railway train station upgraded by Budimex. In 2021 Budimex restored the main station in Bialystok, then in 2012 the stations in Wrocław and Przemyśl. Poland's largest general construction contractor is also upgrading the Włocławek station.
