Modernisation of LK7 Warsaw – Lublin wins TOP Builder 2021 award

Budimex has won the TOP Builder award for the modernisation of Railway Line No. 7 between Otwock and Nałęczów. Top Builder is one of the most prestigious awards in the Polish construction market. This year the competition jury, led by Prof. Leonard Runkiewicz, PhD, from the Warsaw University of Technology and Danuta Burzyńska, the editor-in-chief of Builder monthly, have chosen the modernisation of LK7 between Otwock and Nałęczów by Budimex in 2017–2021 as one of the 62 essential construction projects in Poland.

The winners include projects such as the Powiśle power plant in Warsaw and Mennica Legacy Tower. The competition organisers select construction projects characterised by the quality of workmanship and the use of high-quality technological solutions and materials. The organisers themselves emphasize that this is an award for quality in construction and design.

The modernisation of the LK7 connecting Warsaw with Lublin for PKP PLK is the largest railway project under the National Railway Programme for 2015-2020, worth PLN 1.5 billion.

Budimex was responsible for works on three sections: Otwock to Pilawa, Pilawa to Dęblin and Dęblin to Nałęczów, together constituting 70 percent of the entire 122 km long project. Rail traffic is already allowed on most sections, and completion of all commissioning on the final section between Otwock and Pilawa is scheduled for spring 2021.
