Construction of another section of the S6 can start

The Voivode of the Pomeranian Voivodeship has issued a decision on the permission for the implementation of a road investment for the longest section of the S6 expressway in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, between Leśnice and Bożepole Wielkie. Due to this investment, drivers will be able to move faster towards the Tri-City, and residents of Lębork will gain the southern ring road of the town. The Contractor of the investment is Budimex.

“The S6 expressway will connect Szczecin with the Tri-City. In December, we made the Kashubian Route available to drivers, and now the Voivode has issued consent to the construction of its continuation in the direction of Słupsk. This is good news for everyone who cares about a coherent communication network in Poland. Such a coherent network is being built by the current Polish government”, said Andrzej Adamczyk, Minister of Infrastructure.

“Works on the construction of the remaining part of the S6 are gathering pace. The 2020 financial guarantees mean that today, nothing will stop the completion of the S6 construction. We can see the importance of this investment while driving along the Kashubian Route, which has already been opened. And soon while driving along the complete road between the Tri-City, and Lębork, Słupsk and Koszalin”, says Piotr Müller, minister and spokesman of the government.

About the task

The decision on the permission to implement the road investment, with the order of immediate enforceability, allows the construction works in the field to commence. The S6 expressway between Leśnice near Lębork and Bożepole Wielkie will be a dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction and an emergency stopping lane. The Lębork Południe, Lębork Wschód and Łęczyce junctions will be constructed along the route with a length of approx. 22 km, while the Bożepole Wielkie junction will be expanded.

The implementation of the investment includes the construction of 17 large engineering structures, including two viaducts, as well as 11 smaller structures. Roads crossing the future expressway will be reconstructed, and access roads will be constructed to ensure access to individual real properties. The route will be equipped with environmental protection infrastructure – wildlife crossing structures, noise barriers, a drainage system along with pre-treatment of rainwater.

The construction of the expressway will halve the driving time along this section of the S6 while improving the safety and comfort of driving. The route will stimulate significant investment in adjacent areas, ensuring their connection through junctions with the network of express roads.

Let us recall that the agreement for the implementation of this investment was signed on 29 July 2021. The Contractor is Budimex, and the value of the agreement is over PLN 718.6 million. The first vehicles will drive along the new route in 2025.

Sections completed to date

At the end of last year, we put into service three sections of the S6 expressway between Bożepole Wielkie and Gdynia, with a length of approx. 42 km. The section of the Tri-City Metropolis Ring Road between Chwaszczyno and Żukowo is already under construction. Another five sections of expressways are waiting for decisions to be issued on permission to implement the road investment: four sections between Słupsk and Leśnice and the remaining part of the Tri-City Metropolis Ring Road. We should receive them successively in the first half of this year.

Payment of compensation for real properties

Issuance of the decision on the permission to implement the road investment with the order of immediate enforceability determines the borders of the land planned to be taken over for the construction of the road and makes it possible to start the compensation procedure for real properties taken over by the State Treasury. The administrative proceedings aimed at determining the amount of compensation will be conducted by the Pomeranian Voivode. Independent experts appointed by the Voivode – property appraisers – will estimate the value of the real properties, which will be the basis for issuing a compensation decision. The compensation decision will be the basis for the payment by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways of compensation for real properties taken over.
