Budimex will build a section of S61 Via Baltica

Budimex signed with the Białstok branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways a contract for the design and construction of the S61 express road Ostrów Mazowiecka–Szczuczyn, section: Stawiski junction (excluding the junction) – start of the Szczuczyn ring road, with the length of 18 km. On behalf of Budimex the contract was signed by Darisuz Blocher, President of the Management Board.

A double carriageway with a length of approximately 18 km will almost entirely run along the new trace. The new road will be adapted to load-carrying capacity of 115 kN/axle and design speed of 110 km/h. The surface will be made of cement concrete.

This will be another section of Via Baltica, which in Poland runs along the S8 express road at the section from Warsaw to Ostrów Mazowiecka and further on along the S61 express road, which is to connect Ostrów Mazowiecka with the Polish border in Budzisko.

The net value of the contract is PLN 278 million net.

From the contract execution date Budimex has 31 months to develop the design, obtain the necessary administrative permits and build the express road (winter periods in the civil works phase not included).

Via Baltica is a section of the E67 international route, which runs from Poland through Lithuania and Latvia to Estonia. The route is the key road connection between the Baltic States and Western Europe.
