Budimex to construct a railway connection in Kraków

On 16 of september the consortium of Budimex SA (Consortium leader) and Ferrovial Agroman SA (Consortium partner) signed a contract with PKP SA for construction of the Kraków Zabłocie – Kraków Krzemionki railway connection. The net value of the contract is PLN 209.7 million.
The railway connection will consist of two tracks with total length of 2.6 km (track No 1 – 1.2 km and track No 2 – 1.4 km). The contract entails performance of all works, i.e. construction of embankments, railroad subgrade and track structure.
The scope of construction works includes the following:
- track system reconstruction for railway lines No 91, 94, and 603; construction of a new line No 624 routed via railway viaducts between Kraków Zabłocie – Kraków Krzemionki passenger stops.
- reconstruction of: passenger stops (Kraków Zabłocie, Kraków Krzemionki), roads, track system drainage, overhead contact line, electrical and power devices, railway traffic control devices, telecommunication cables, water and sewage networks, heating networks, and gas networks.
Within the scope of the project the consortium will erect 2 flyovers, 3 viaducts, 2 platform footbridges and 2 passageways above tracks.
The contract specifies 24 months for completion of all works.
The planned railway connection will provide a direct link between stations Kraków Główny Osobowy and Kraków Bonarka.
