Budimex invites its employees to participate in "Budimagedon"

There is no need to convince anyone that sports activity is extremely important for maintaining physical and mental health. However, despite the widespread awareness, the reason most often mentioned by Poles to lead a passive lifestyle is the lack of motivation, which has recently been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. This is why Budimex decided to activate its employees by inviting them to sports competitions as part of "Budimagedon".

The Olympic Games are a perfect example of the fact that the willingness to compete with others has accompanied people for centuries and is an extremely strong motivation to play sports. Budimex has also decided to take advantage of this, organising "Budimagedon" from 07.04 to 12.05. As part of it, employees will compete in three disciplines in which the number of kilometres achieved will be crucial, meaning running, riding and walking. However, in the fourth category, including, i.a., skating, skiing, dancing and swimming, the number of calories burned during the training will determine the winner. The project is being implemented remotely.

An additional element of "Budimagedon" is the challenges and obstacles that the participants will have to face, which are to further encourage them to be active, for example, one of the tasks will be to indicate the songs accompanying them during sports together with the justification of their choice.

During the project, employees will be able to read on the intranet tips on a healthy lifestyle, opinions on various types of diets, and find out how the right choice of music affects the effectiveness of training.

“Playing sports together, motivating each other for this type of activity, and competing in the spirit of fair play are factors that strongly integrate. Therefore, at Budimex, we often invite our employees to participate in projects related to physical activity. It is also one of the directions of our activities in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. Although the employees do not have the opportunity to train together, "Budimagedon" allows them to experience emotions together and feel like a community pursuing one goal – victory in sports competition”, emphasises Cezary Mączka, Member of the Management Board of Budimex SA, Director of the Human Resource Management Division.

"Budimagedon" started on World Health Day (celebrated on April 7 since 1950) with a webinar entitled "STAY STRONG! How can you build mental resilience while performing in extreme conditions?”, led by Kinga Baranowska, mountain climber, winner of nine eight-thousanders, former member of the national mountaineering team.

The Budimex Group employs over 7,500 people and is the largest construction employer among general contractors in Poland.
