Budimex contracted to build Psychiatric Centre in Białystok

Budimex S.A. is to build a modern care unit to house the Psychiatric Centre at the University Clinical Hospital and the Ludwik Zamenhof Children’s University Clinical Hospital in Białystok. The completion of works is scheduled for May 2022.

The contract for the construction of the Psychiatric Centre, located on ul. Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie in Białystok, was signed on 24 March 2020. The contract is worth over 28.7M PLN and was awarded to Budimex by the Medical University of Białystok. The project is a “Design and Build” type capital investment. Budimex is contracted to develop the plans and specifications, obtain the building and use permits, and complete the construction work for the project. “We are delighted that the University Clinical Hospital in Białystok has trusted us yet again. This is a great success for us, but also a challenge. Similarly to the construction of clinical wards we undertook in 2011-2018, in the current project we will be using our knowledge and experience - which we believe will be again a source of satisfaction for both parties,” said Dariusz Blocher, President and CEO of Budimex S.A.

Space for everyone

The building, designed to accommodate patients of all ages, will have a total area of approximately 5080 m2, including a usable floor space of about 3846 m2 and a net volume of approximately 12,900 m3. 76 beds will be provided, with 40 for adults and 36 for children and teenagers. The centre will feature facilities to help people with disabilities, and include two internal lifts to ensure the effective movement of people.

A three-storey superstructure

The layout of the new building will be like an inverted letter “D”, complete with a patio for the inner courtyard. The centre will have 3 above ground levels and 1 underground level. There will be two main entrances, one on the northern side for access to the Adult Psychiatric Clinic, and one on the southern side for access to the Children and Youth Psychiatric Clinic. Two driveways will provide access for ambulances.
