Budimex conducts its business in accordance with the highest environmental and social standards, and for this it has been recognised as a Sustainable Construction Leader. More and more facilities implemented by the company have LEED and BREEAM certificates of sustainable construction. Since 2015, the overall proportion of recovered materials in building materials has quadrupled (up from 2% to 8%).

As part of the new CSR strategy, the company is planning to increase the proportion of renewable energy in total purchased energy to 50% in 2023 (as compared to 37% in 2020). During the construction works, water consumption is also minimised by recovering steam water, so that in the following years the percentage of waste in the construction catchment area will be higher and in 2023 it will amount to 10%.

Budimex supports innovative solutions such as power banks replacing combustion power generation. Instagrid portable batteries supply power to construction equipment such as drills and welders. Their greatest advantage is the fact that they do not produce fumes, noise or vibrations and do not pollute the air. Another innovative solution is the cooperation with LOTOS Asfalt in the production of a road surface mixture scented with flowers. The active compounds contained in it act as an odour neutraliser, reducing the volatility of the odour-producing substance present in traditional asphalt.
