Annual Report of Budimex awarded

Integrated Annual Report of the Budimex Group for 2016 received a Stock Exchange award in the 11th edition of the Social Reports competition. Budimex has been building its social involvement for nine years. This year’s report presents results broken down by financial and economic as well as social and environmental aspects. Such approach to reporting is a logical consequence of the company’s responsible and comprehensive approach to management.

Budimex’s Integrated Annual Report for 2016 has been selected among over forty reports submitted for the 11th edition of the Social Reports competition. The jury, composed of representatives of non-governmental organisations, business, the Ministry of Development and Finance, higher education institutions, employers' associations, experts in the field of economics, environmental protection and social responsibility, judged completeness, credibility and communication with stakeholders presented in the submitted reports.

The initiative is mainly aimed at drawing attention to the importance of non-financial reporting and indication of best practices in this respect. The competition distinguishes enterprises which not only operate with consideration of social and environmental aspects, but also manage to present their achievements in published reports, in a clear, transparent and credible way. The competition contributes to the increase in transparency of organisations’ activities and to engagement in a dialogue with stakeholders; it is also a good source of inspiration on how to disclose non-financial data. This is important in the context of directive 2014/95/EU on disclosure of non-financial and diversity information by certain large undertakings implemented in Poland.

Awards for the best reports were granted in seven categories: main Jury award, best debut, best report of a non-business organisation, award of the Minister of Development and Finance, internauts, journalists, Stock Exchange, as well as distinctions.
- The Stock Exchange award is a huge distinction and satisfaction for us, but also a commitment for the future. Reporting process is very important for us and thanks to subsequent reports we learn and develop - says Katarzyna Wójcik, expert at the Communication Office of Budimex SA and a CSR coordinator.
Integrated Annual Report of the Budimex Group has been published on-line exclusively, in Polish and English language version. It presents the operations of Budimex, its business model, strategy, values and financial results from the perspective of the most important groups of stakeholders. The layout and content of the publication are based on the structure and guidelines on integrated reporting recommended by the IIRC (International Integrated Reporting Council) and, in relation to non-financial operations, according to the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative). The report also includes directions of the recent EU legislation on disclosure of non-financial and diversity information.

The Social Reports competition has been held since 2007 and it is organised by Stowarzyszenie Forum Odpowiedzialnego Biznesu [The Responsible Business Forum] and Deloitte. The patronage over the competition was provided by the Ministry of Development, Ministry of Finance, as well as Stowarzyszenie Emitentów Giełdowych [Association of Listed Companies] and Federacja Konsumentów [Consumer Federation].
The winning submissions of this year’s competition included reports of Cemex, PKN Orlen, Bank Zachodni WBK S.A, Lafarge and Fundacja im. Doktora Piotra Janaszka.
