A consortium of Budimex and Ferrovial Agroman will finish off the construction of the Racibórz Dolny dry polder

On 30 November 2017 Budimex SA and Ferrovial Agroman concluded with the Regional Authority for Water Management in Gliwice a contract for finishing off the construction of the Racibórz Dolny polder.

The contract is valued at PLN 903 million gross. The scope of works includes the construction of a dry polder with a length of 22.4 km and height of 11 m. It is to comprise a frontal dam together with a spillway dam feeding water to the so-called Odra Miejska, the left-bank dam – 9.6 km and the right-bank dam – 8.8 km. The dams will be earthwork structures. The total capacity of the polder will be approximately 185 million m3.

The Racibórz Dolny polder at Odra in the Śląskie Province will be built as a polder – a dry reservoir filled with water only in flood water seasons. It is to protect approximately 2.5 million of inhabitants of the Odra basin, from Racibórz to Wrocław.

Budimex exhibits vast experience in the construction of hydro-technical investments. Among others, it was the general contractor of: the ports of Świnoujście and Szczecin, the Płonie Channel at Martwa Wisła or the Rydzyna Reservoir.
