22. Parent Zone in Siedlce

Under the “Parent Zone. Budimex for children” social programme a modern and functional zone for parents and sick children was created in the Children Ward of the Mazovian Provincial Hospital in Siedlce. This is the 22nd location in Poland subject to the programme organised by Budimex SA.

The creation of more comfortable conditions for the parents of small patients to stay with their children in a hospital to improve their condition and facilitate recover is the key goal of the “Parent Zone. Budimex for children” programme, entirely performed and financed by Budimex SA.

“The Children Ward of the Mazovian Provincial Hospital in Siedlce admits approximately 1,700 young patients each year. The children stay approximately 4 days in the ward, together with their parents. During the recently completed retrofit of the ward 3 rooms were separated and converted into the so-called “parents’ room” (a kitchen, a rest area and a corridor to these rooms), however, the lack of funds prevented the finishing of the parents’ zone. Parents of hospitalised children, who care for their kids 24 hours a day, have no place to rest, eat or drink. A longer stay in the hospital together with the children requires appropriate conditions, and we very much want to create such conditions for the parents,” said Anna Garucka, Director for Nursing and Care Organisation in the Mazovian Provincial Hospital in Siedlce.

Starting today, caregivers that stay with the children in the rooms and in the corridor could move to the spacious, renovated Parent Zone, which has been completely retrofit and equipped with furniture adapted to the parents’ and children needs. The Parent Zone in Siedlce hospital is similar to the other 21 built so far. It has been created to a unique design taking into account the specific premises of the facility as well as the parents’ and small patients’ needs.

The “Parent Zone. Budimex for Children” program was launched in 2013 and has so far lead to the creation of 21 comfortable places in children wards of Polish hospitals intended for parents and the youngest patients.
