Budimex signs a contract for construction of S7 Modlin-Czosnów in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship

On 12 May this year, Budimex signed a contract with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways in Warsaw for the construction of the S7 expressway, Modlin-Czosnów section, in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship. The works will include the construction of about 10 km of express road and 20 km of service roads.

Three lanes in each direction

Under the contract, Budimex will be responsible for preparing the construction design, obtaining the necessary permits, and then the construction of a 9.7 km long section of the S7 dual carriageway expressway, with three lanes in each direction.

“These are the successive stages of the S7 project in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship. The new road will provide a safe road connection for the residents of Warsaw and Tri-City. I wish to thank our partners who, despite the epidemic, have remained strongly involved in the project,” said Andrzej Adamczyk, Minister of Infrastructure, when signing the contract.

“We have to rebuild the current bridge, and there will be over 30 km of service roads and the main road in total. The whole team is ready and we are starting the design works, for which we have 10 months to complete. Our experience and competences, gained during the construction of the A1 between Tuszyn and Piotrków, allow us to assume that we can finish the project before the contract deadline. We have confidence in this because our relationship with the contracting party is very good, for which we want to thank them,” said Dariusz Blocher – President of Budimex.

“Construction works will be carried out while vehicle traffic continues. It will be a demanding process because we plan to maintain traffic on both carriageways, but the period between 2021 and 2023 is sure to try the patience of drivers. We apologise in advance for any future inconvenience,” added Dariusz Blocher.

Modlin-Czosnów is the third section of the works aimed at adapting the DK7 to expressway specifications for the Płońsk-Czosnów section. Ultimately, the S7 expressway will have 3 lanes in each direction. The contract will involve extending the existing road, build junctions and connections for local traffic between the junctions, build bridges over the future S7 and overpasses along and over the expressway, and also develop the two existing road junctions: Modlin and Błonie. Acoustic screens and animal passages will also be constructed as part of the project.

Travellers’ comfort

Budimex will also ensure the functionality of the infrastructure, and not only for those travelling by car. The bridge over the Vistula River in Zakroczym will be equipped with a pedestrian and bicycle path. In addition, there will be a stopping place for travellers and tunnels for pedestrians. The contract deadline for completion of works is May 2023, and the project net value is PLN 486,827,545.00.

Construction of the S7 for the Modlin-Czosnów section is another road infrastructure project carried out by Budimex. Budimex is also constructing sections of the S19 Via Carpatia in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, S6 Cassubia Route in the Pomorskie Voivodeship and S61 Via Baltica in the Podlaskie Voivodeship. The company has also been working on the Wałbrzych beltway in the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship. Furthermore, Budimex also signed two contracts in April and May this year: for the construction of the S5 expressway in the Kuyawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship and the S5 in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship.
