Opening of the Parent Zone in Gdańsk

"Parent Zone. Budimex for Children" is a nationwide social program whose aim is to provide sick children and their caregivers with a comfortable place to spend time together. The 29th Zone was established in the Neonatology Clinic and Obstetrics Clinic of the Centre for Noninvasive Medicine, whose general contractor was Budimex.

It is an exceptional edition of the "Parent Zone. Budimex for Children.” In Gdańsk, Budimex has not only built a modern medical complex but also a unique place for parents and caretakers of sick children. We always want to be close to the local community, not only by delivering new investments but also by responding to its other needs. Research shows that children recover much faster when they can be close to their caregivers throughout their entire treatment, and the Parent Zone offers such an opportunity – underlines Dariusz Blocher, President of the Management Board of Budimex.

Budimex built two rooms for family visits in the Neonatology Clinic and Obstetrics Clinic. The first one is suitable for larger groups; we have equipped them with comfortable armchairs and sofas. The second one allows for more intimate meetings and has separated spaces. The dominant colours are soft, inspired by natural wood and blue sky. The rooms fit perfectly with the decor of the medical complex. The rooms also include a play area for older children visiting their siblings. In addition, at the request of the hospital, Budimex donated 3 kangaroo care chairs to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It is here that parents spend a lot of time watching over the most sick babies.

– In the neonatology unit, parents being close to their toddlers is very important. It is an ideal place to create a friendly and welcoming Parental Zone, said Katarzyna Wójcik, Budimex Communications Specialist.

– We do our best to make our patients comfortable. We are grateful for all the initiatives that help us in this task. We wish to thank Budimex for arranging these beautiful, welcoming spaces – said Arkadiusz Lendzion, Deputy General Manager for Administrative and Technical Affairs of the University Clinical Centre in Gdańsk.

The opening of the Gdańsk Parent Zone was attended by representatives of the hospital, Budimex employees, media and the Ambassador of the Programme, Dariusz Wardziak, known from TV shows as Darek Stolarz. He is always very enthusiastic about his involvement in the programme – “Parent Zone. Budimex for Children" is a meaningful and effective program that helps small patients and their caregivers overcome illness. I believe we give them strength to fight. I myself get a lot in return. After each opening I return home motivated to act and with the belief that it is worth changing the world.

Naturally, the opening of the Zone was attended by volunteers from Budimex. More than 20 company employees came to Gdańsk to help with the final arrangements. They also bought colourful wooden toys with the money collected among their colleagues.
