FBSerwis to modernize the street lighting in Sosnowiec

On 4 February 2020, FBSerwis SA signed a contract with the Sosnowiec Municipality to modernize the street lamps and poles within the Municipality. The contract value exceeds PLN 15.6 million gross.

The scope of work includes 6071 lighting fittings, as well as protections and power cables, which are to be replaced with new LED fittings along with 1572 concrete poles being replaced with 665 steel and 907 anodized aluminium poles. FBSerwis is also to equip the new fittings with controllers to integrate with the lighting control system to enable the Municipality to monitor and control the lighting intensity, thus increasing the efficiency of the system. Before commencing work, FBSerwis is also obliged to prepare the lighting system modernization project, including the technical and design documentation for each of about 140 electrical cabinets of the street lighting system.

The lighting system modernization will reduce the power consumption by over 63% and total energy consumption by about 75%, which will have a beneficial impact on the lighting system costs the Municipality has to bear. Due to the reduced demand for electricity, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions will also decrease by over 2.6 thousand tonnes per year, i.e. over 75%.

"The contract with the Sosnowiec Municipality is one of the largest lighting contracts in the FBSerwis portfolio, and we are glad that we can use our rich and comprehensive experience during this project. Observing the effects of our work in other municipalities and cities, we can confidently say that the lighting system modernization is one of the best investments that local governments can make. Modern lighting systems bring not only significant savings, both on energy and future maintenance costs, but also cleaner air due to the reduced emissions of harmful dust, as well as CO2," says Artur Pielech, President of the Management Board of FBSerwis SA.

The contract is valid from the date of its signing and is settled by the ordering party in two phases: FBSerwis has 6 months to prepare the project and 9 months to implement it.

So far, FBSerwis has modernized over 20 thousand lighting points in such locations as the Bytom Municipality, Warsaw, Krakow, Malbork, Sztum, Dąbrowa Górnicza, Andrychów and Słupsk. The company’s portfolio also contains contracts for the ongoing maintenance and construction of street lighting systems including a telemetry layer.
