The consortium of Budimex SA (leader – 95% of shares) and Ferrovial Agroman SA was commissioned by Kujawsko-Pomorskie Inwestycje Medyczne Sp. z o.o. to modernize and reconstruct the L. Rydygier Provincial Polyclinic Hospital in Toruń. The gross value of the contract concluded on 22 November exceeds PLN 336 million.

The provincial hospital in Toruń will be thoroughly renovated and significantly expanded. With the expansion of the complex, 6 new buildings with the usable area of over 63 thousand sq m will be constructed. The 4-storey one, the largest of those, is intended for the hospital emergency ward. It will house 12 operating rooms and 318 beds for patients. Moreover, a heliport will be constructed on the roof. In the new annexes, there will be 196 beds for patients of the psychiatric hospital and 39 beds for the infectious ward patients and outpatient clinics. Following reconstruction, the hospital will also have a 3-storey surface car park for 303 cars that will be equipped with a solar system. Budimex shall perform the contract within 36 months from the hand-over of the construction site by the investor.

After expansion, the hospital will benefit from many modern solutions. The operating theatre will be equipped with a room multimedia integration system and the hospital’s pharmacy will get an automated system for dosing and distributing pharmaceuticals. The employees will be able to use pneumatic post so that they will not to have to go from one building to another in order to hand over various objects.

However, before the contractor commences expansion of the hospital, it will perform many preparatory works, including reconstruction of sanitary, power and telecommunications systems along with demolition works.

Budimex has extensive experience in terms of hospital construction. It has constructed, inter alia, the Provincial Hospital in Wrocław, University Clinical Hospital in Białystok (1st stage) and the Provincial Children Hospital in Bydgoszcz. Currently, it is in the process of constructing the Non-Invasive Medicine Centre in Gdańsk and the 2nd stage of expansion of the University Hospital in Białystok.
