Budimex builds a gas pipeline in Lower Silesia

Budimex SA and Mostostal Kraków SA consortium is building a DN 1000 MOP 8.4 MPa high-pressure gas pipeline at the section from the Czeszów block and bleed valve assembly to the Kiełczów unit, including the infrastructure required for the operation of the pipeline. This is the first contract of such type in the history of Budimex.

Last year, Budimex was the only company from outside the gas sector that positively completed all pre-qualifications announced by GAZ SYSTEM SA, obtained a number of certificates and submitted the most favorable bid in the tender, which allowed the company to emerge on the market of gas fuels.

Construction of the pipeline started in February, today the installation of the 550-meter-long section of the DN 1000 gas pipeline has begun. It’s build using the method of a horizontal directional drill. The pipeline with the diameter of 1,000 mm will be 32.5 km long and built in the agricultural, forest and partly urbanized areas.

The scope of contract with GAZ SYSTEM S.A. includes the construction of a high pressure pipeline DN 1000 mm with an operating pressure of 8.4 MPa in the Dolnośląskie Province. It’s built of L485 MB steel pipes, wall thickness of 14.2 mm and 22.2 mm. The implementation also includes the construction of in-line blocking and bleeding systems with bypass systems in the area of Miłonowice and in the area of the Kiełczów junction.

The consortium will build 28 trenchless crossings through field obstacles by means of harnessing and microtunelling in the DN 1200 and DN 1400 casing tubes and 2 crossing areas of a natural value by the method of horizontal directional drill (HDD) with a total length of 1,250 m. The scope of implementation also includes gassing and commissioning of the gas pipeline.

As a contractor, Budimex has already executed tree logging in accordance with the environmental permit, sapper works and archaeological supervision along the entire pipeline. The net value of the contract is PLN 63.79 million net and the work execution period is 19 months.
